There are many theatrical versions of the 1964 children’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by British author Roald Dahl, but the one that will be presented by the Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School this weekend is the non-musical version of the beloved story.
Over 60 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students are a part of the cast and crew for the show, which will be presented Friday, November 17 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 18, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the District Auditorium at the Middle School, 619 Quaker Meeting House Road.
The play follows the adventures of Charlie Bucket and his Grandpa Joe inside the chocolate factory of eccentric owner Willy Wonka.
Among the featured performers are Colin Fanning as Charlie, Will Tomaszewski as Grandpa Joe, Seamus Gillis as Willy Wonka, Kendall Towner as Mrs. Gloop, Dave Tuller as Mr. Salt, Molly Conners as Veruca, Emily Fraser as Mrs. Salt, Carrie Kilenbec as Mrs. Beauregarde, Ella Clark as Violet Beauregarde, Carlie Masek as Mike Teavee, and Owen West as Mr. Teavee.
The Middle School alternates presenting a drama or musical each fall to give the students the opportunity to take part in acting, lighting, sound, props and other aspects of putting on a theatrical production.
Tickets are $5, available at the door. Students will also be collecting items for hurricane relief efforts for the northeastern Caribbean island of Dominica at each performance. Preferred donation items are non-perishable food items, toiletries and baby items.
