Shrek Jr., like the adult version Shrek, is a hilarious fairy tale. Shrek is a grumpy ogre living alone in his swamp. The world is fearful and mocking of him, so Shrek is more than happy to leave the world to itself. His hermit existence is thrown open when a group of homeless fairy tale characters: Pinocchio, the Gingerbread Man, the Three Little Pigs and others come to his swamp to seek refuge from the persecution of Lord Farquaad. Shrek seeks out Farquaad who offers him a deal: if Shrek rescues the Princess Fiona (whom Farquaad wants to marry for her crown) then Farquaad will ensure the return of the Fairy Tale creatures to their homes. How this all turns out, you’ll have to attend the show.

Adults helping the students with the show are Joanne Gravelle (artistic director), Andrew Hargrave (vocal director), Jessica Riley (crew director), Steve Coykendall (set design), Ken Goold (sound design), Barbara Salter (costume design), Tina Floss (choreographer), Bill Nolan (lighting design), Marlene Lowenthal (producer) and Milt Mashner, Ken Kreuzer and Quinn Brooks (pit musicians).

The musical was announced back in June and the students were excited for such a well-known and fun show.

“The students are having a blast bringing this story to life,” Gravelle said.
