Families looking for Halloween activities can head to Genesee Country Village & Museum on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 for their annual Trick-or-Treating in the Historic Village. Over a dozen of the Museum’s historic houses will be giving out Halloween treats, including allergy-safe Teal Pumpkin Project stops. Each day will include a campfire for marshmallow roasting, spooky storytelling, outdoor games, and face painting. New this year, a kid-friendly lunch or dinner will be available for purchase at the Meeting Center dining room, featuring comfort foods like pizza, mac and cheese, and soup, plus beer, wine, and soda, giving busy families an easy way to grab a meal while they’re enjoying the festivities.
Some familiar characters will also be visiting from Wonderland, highlighted by a performance of The Walrus and the Carpenter in the Davis Opera Hall. For those needing to recharge before heading out for more treats, the Museum will have Halloween-themed movies playing in the comfort of the modern Thompson Barn Activity Center, just off the main Village Square.
Friday evening from 4 to 8 pm, the candle-lit Historic Village will create a spooky atmosphere for trick-or-treating. For those looking for daytime fun, Saturday afternoon will offer all the same activities from 12 to 4 pm. Guests are encouraged to bring their own flashlights and candy bags. In case of inclement weather on Saturday, GCV&M will have a “rain date” on Sunday from 12 to 4 pm, and will announce the change on their website and social media.
Tickets are available through the museum’s website, gcv.org, and are valid for either day. Tickets may also be purchased at the Admissions gate. Youth ages 1-17 tickets are $8 (Member Youth, $5). All children under the age of 1 and all adults accompanying children are free.
