More and more people are discovering the Greater Western New York Region wasn’t originally part of New York State but was annexed several years after the conclusion of the Revolutionary War. And a good thing, too! The British attempt to retake America from Canada in the War of 1812 was stymied by the buffer zone created by Western New York.
