The Daughters of the American Revolution Ska-Hase-Ga-O Chapter in Lima hosted their annual Holiday Tea at Two with members and guests just before Christmas. The event was held at the Lima Presbyterian Church, in honor of DAR’s 2025 – 2026 Good Citizen award recipients from area high schools. Students, parents, families, and friends gathered to celebrate our Ska-Hase-Ga-O Good Citizens.

Livingston County Good Citizen Award winners this year are Aariana Arnold (Avon Central School), Sydney Kolodziej (Livonia Central School), Jayla Mowday (Mount Morris Central School), and Jaelyn Fanaro (York Central School).

DAR’s Good Citizen program recognizes and rewards outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate these strong American values: Dependability, Service, Leadership, and Patriotism. To be eligible for the Good Citizen award, students must demonstrate commitment to these values in their homes, school environments, and communities.

Students provide a summary of their activities throughout high school, their plans for the future, and their understanding of Dependability, Service, Leadership, and Patriotism, as well as faculty recommendations. Students also write an essay on a topic chosen by DAR. Students have no prior knowledge of the topic, and they must complete the essay within a two-hour window. This year’s essay title was Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It. In view of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, students wrote on “ways in which the characteristics of a good citizen renew and strengthen the democracy achieved by the Patriots of the American Revolution.”

Each Livingston County Good Citizen will be recognized in the spring at her school’s Awards or Commencement celebration. The ladies of Ska-Hase-Ga-O are very proud of these excellent young ladies. We commend the families who have raised them, and the strong Livingston County public schools which have educated them.
