Since her retirement in 2007, she has pursued her interest in local history research. She co-wrote the centennial history of the Rochester Public Library. She has prepared exhibits on the War of 1812, World War II, the Underground Railroad, Women’s Suffrage and Prohibition for the Greece Historical Society where she has been a volunteer for the past nine years. She conducts walking tours of the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In 2019, she published her book “A History of the Seneca Park Zoo”.
“Sam Patch, America’s First Daredevil”. Nik Wallenda is just the latest in a long line of American daredevils. The first was Sam Patch, who made his reputation “jumping falls”. Sam will always be remembered in Rochester for what happened on that fateful day, November 13, 1829. Join us to hear Whalen tell us about Sam’s exploits.
This will be a virtual meeting on Zoom beginning at 7:30.
