On May 15th at 7:00pm, the Honeoye Falls Fire Department will be holding an Open House and informational meeting at the firehouse located at 7 Monroe Street in Honeoye Falls.
This event complements a much larger statewide volunteer firefighter recruitment program. Similar to other volunteer fire departments around the state, Honeoye Falls is in need of additional volunteers.
“Honeoye Falls and surrounding areas have been blessed with robust volunteerism for many years. When there is an emergency, you can count on the fire department to respond quickly with trained personnel. However, the department needs additional firefighters to ensure it can maintain an adequate 24/7 response”, according to David Hood, Chief of the Honeoye Falls Fire Department.
There are a number of roles in the fire service. Not every firefighter is trained to don an airpack and enter a burning structure. There are exterior firefighter positions as well as fire police positions. No matter the role, the fire department provides all the necessary training. Chief Hood is hoping to attract a variety of interested citizens to the meeting. If you have even the slightest interest in understanding more about the fire service, he hopes you will consider attending.
