A local church is following up after a forum about teen anxiety and depression last spring with a free workshop that helps those who care for teenagers and young adults.

“Mental Health First Aid for Youth” is an award-winning, nationwide program that helps parents, grandparents, and caregivers better understand young persons’ mental health challenges. It offers, clear, practical steps that anyone can take to help teens. Topics range from how to discuss depression to effective responses to suicidal talk.

The workshop runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 16 at the First Presbyterian Church in Honeoye Falls, 27 North Main Street, Honeoye Falls. Registration opens at 7:30 AM and you must be registered before 8 AM to take part, so please arrive early. Only twenty-five spots are available; advanced registration is required. You can register in person Monday – Friday or by calling 585-624-2160.

Monroe County Public Health provides the program and materials at no cost; food is provided by the church congregation.
