Sometimes businesses in Mendon do so well, they have to move on to larger locations. That would be the case in the success story of Katie Elizabeth School of Dance, a studio which recently departed from its former location in the Mendon Academy to move to its current location at 50 Office Park Way in Pittsford, across the street from the new YMCA.

The owner of this business would be Katie Elizabeth Foulk who was born and raised in England and led a life which has seen her make multiple moves across the pond before having her land at her current situation here in the U.S. She originally came to the U.S. to earn her B.A. in dance at SUNY Potsdam which she accomplished in 2013.

At that point Katie Elizabeth returned to England to start her first dance studio. After years of performing in her home country she came to realize that, “I always had a dream to open up a studio in America.” So in 2017 she relocated to Rochester with her husband.

Her goal was realized when, “Chris Brush [who owns and runs Mendon Academy] gave me the opportunity to start classes at the studio in 2019. Her kindness led to me being able to expand to nightly classes until we outgrew the space.”

Katie Elizabeth School of Dance (KE) takes pride in the vibrant and inclusive community they have built, welcoming individuals of all ages and abilities. Their classes range from parent-and-tot sessions to adult programs. The competition team, now in its third season, continues to expand each year.

KE offers a diverse range of dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, ballroom, and pointe, among others. As they enter year six, Katie Elizabeth added, “We’re excited to enhance offerings by providing more classes led by a dedicated and passionate dance team.”

This past summer, KE students had the incredible opportunity to perform on Broadway and in Times Square, with plans to perform at Disney next Christmas. With a growing competition team they are performing in additional holiday camps, dance events and recitals. The studio is also affiliated with More Than Just Great Dancing and continues to practice a safe dance environment.

They can be reached at (585) 201-9391.
