The Lima Historical Society will be holding its Annual Dinner Meeting/Program on Sunday afternoon, May 21st.
The program is We Can Take It ! The History of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Letchworth Park by Thomas C. Cook.
Between 1933 and 1941, over 3000 young men served in the four CCC camps located in Letchworth State Park (pictured above). Come and learn about this program and its legacy in our region. The program explores life in the CCC camps, the work projects, and the interaction between the camps and surrounding communities through photographs, documents and stories collected from the park archives and from CCC veterans.
The Annual Dinner will be held at 2 p.m. at the American Hotel. Open to the public: reservations required. For information go to: www.limahistorical.org
Mr. Cook’s illustrated presentation will follow at the Lima Town Hall at around 3:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
