All Labor Day weekend, Genesee Country Village & Museum, the state’s largest living history museum, is offering free admission to residents in five towns and villages surrounding the museum: Mumford, Caledonia, Scottsville, LeRoy, and Avon (zip codes 14511, 14423, 14546, 14482, and 14414).

The museum has nearly 70 historic buildings on its property as well as costumed interpreters to “keep the hearth fires burning, the heirloom gardens flourishing and the livestock tended.” There are countless demonstrations of what life was like prior to the turn of the century from cooking to school and farming.

The intent of this annual gift is to acknowledge museum neighbors and thank them for their support. To receive free admission, those interested must present a driver’s license or a utility bill with the applicable zip code.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and until 5 p.m. on Labor Day.
