At its annual Spring Conference last week, the New York Press Association recognized the Mendon-Honeoye Falls-Lima Sentinel in its 2021 Better Newspaper Awards.
Donna MacKenzie received the Second Place Award in the Sports Coverage category. Judges said of her work: “There is some great coverage and reporting done here, and the pictures add powerful visuals.”
Christopher Carosa was awarded Third Place for the Best Column in Division 1. Judges said, “This writer pulls the reader in from the very start. Well written work. Truly work that makes the reader think – and I’m sure most readers will learn something along the way.”
Since 2017, the Sentinel has won awards in several categories including, Best Editorial, Best Feature Series, and Best Online News Project or Presentation.
