As with all local volunteer fire departments (and ambulance services too), Pittsford Fire Department needs more volunteers. Currently, it has about 75 members who collectively repond to over 800 calls for service each year. These calls range from structure fires to car accidents to vehicle fires, Emergency Medical Response, automatic fire and Carbon Monoxide alarms, public assists and other emergencies and requests for service.
This year alone, the fire department has responded to 700 calls for service, according to the department’s website.
If you are interested in becoming a member but can’t make it to the open house, head to the department’s website at pittsfordfd.org and click on the Join Us link to learn more about how you can serve the community by volunteering at the fire department.
