The Village of Honeoye Falls, NY is happy to announce that it has been awarded an Empire State Development Pro-Housing Supply Funds Program award in the amount of $8,970,000. This award will directly support the Honeoye Falls Waste Water Treatment Plant Improvement project that in turn unlocks future housing development, which is the focus of this funding.

This WWTP Project will include the creation and construction of a (new) WWTP within the Village of Honeoye Falls replacing the current 85+ year old facility. Not only will this project support current residential, business and industrial needs but will also support new development in-process and additional development in the planning stages. The Village of Honeoye Falls currently has 117 new homes being built and an additional housing project proposed with 412 units as well as a third that will include approximately 100 units. The Village has been very supportive of the Pro-Housing program since its inception as we realize the need for more homes that support our local industries and the desire for first time home buyers and empty nesters to remain in Honeoye Falls and to support those who simply wish to move into our community.

The total cost of the WWTP Project is $18M. With this award, the Village will have been awarded $11,310,000, and is working to secure a DEC WQIP Grant which will be the final key component of moving the full project forward. This project is critical to the Village of Honeoye Falls and its residents and businesses.

The Village of Honeoye Falls, thanks Governor Kathy Hochul for this award and appreciates her forward thinking with these critical programs that benefit not only a local community but have a regional and thus statewide impact making New York State a better place to live, work and play.

The Village of Honeoye Falls would also like to thank Laura Fox O’Sullivan, Director, Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council; and the FLREDC Team for their support with this project and its selection. The Regional Economic Development Council process is a positive and thorough process that allows municipalities and businesses an opportunity to strive to obtain financial support for projects that impact our local communities and regions statewide.

When asked about this award, Tammy Kunzman, Grant Administrator, HUNT Engineers, Architecture and Surveyors stated: “The Village of Honeoye Falls’ strong leadership and consistent engagement were key to this award. Mayor Richard Milne’s hands-on approach and commitment to advancing infrastructure that supports housing made this project both competitive and successful.” The Village of Honeoye Falls thanks HUNT EAS and Tammy Kunzman for their partnership in this grant request, its preparation and throughout the project planning process, leading to a successful award.
