West Main Street and East Street were turned into 42nd Street with the theme of Broadway this year for Honeoye Falls-Lima’s 44th Annual Fall Weekend festivities.

While it rained during the parade, folks didn’t seem to mind. Led by a unit from the Monroe County Sheriff and the State Police, the parade then featured members of the Honeoye Falls Post 664 American Legion, the Lima Francis M. Dalton Post 282 American Legion and the Lima Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 26. Following them was a car with veterans from World War II and the Korean War.

HF-L Superintendent Gene Mancuso and Assistant Superintendent Bruce Capron walked the route. The newest members of the HF-L Alumni Hall of Fame were driven in convertibles, the first one being Sally Donlon Zimmer, then Nancy McGuire Pool, then John Moffitt and finally Rob Sanford.

Floats from three area nursery school and pre-schools were next. Mendon Child Care’s float was based on Seussical the Musical. It received the creativity award in the community category. Creekside Nursery School in Honeoye Falls utilized The Wizard of Oz as the Broadway show for its float. It received the workmanship award. The Middle School band under the direction of Brian Coughlin led off that school’s contribution to the parade. The Middle School King and Queen were Brian Reinke and Izzy Playa. The school’s float presented School of Rock and won the Workmanship Award. The floats of the high school classes followed next. The freshman King and Queen were Riley Wall and Dana Szczublewski. The class float featured The Phantom of the Opera and it won first place. Marcis Scroger and Elizabeth Ingle were the sophomore King and Queen. The sophomore float featured the musical Aladdin which received third place. Josh Alcorn and Jessica Spezzano were the junior class King and Queen. That class utilized Hairspray for its float’s inspiration which received second place. The high school marching band under the direction of Mark Borden was on buses due to the steadier rainfall, but they were still playing. Eric Davis and Caroline Allison were the senior class King and Queen. The Homecoming King and Queen were Matthew Crane and Aryanne Costanza. The senior class float also showcased The Lion King and it received the Grand Prize award.

After the football game, the HF-L Alumni Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place in the high school cafeteria. After bios of the inductees were read, the high school select choir under the direction of Ken Goold sang a song specially selected to match something in each inductee’s biography. The first inductee was Sally Donlon Zimmer from the Honeoye Falls Class of 1952 and the choir sang “With A Song in My Heart”.
