The Village of Lima is proud to partner with the Village of Brockport in being the two founding communities of the Finger Lakes Community Choice renewable energy program. “ This Community Solar Program meets the Village of Lima’s long sought goal of providing residents with 100% renewable electricity at a 10% cost saving. The elegance of the program is that residents don’t have to take any action to benefit and the solar credits will appear automatically on their regular National Grid bill each month”, according to Lima Mayor John Correll.
At the inception of the program the Villages of Lima and Brockport will negotiate to purchase electricity from a solar array located in National Grid’s service territory. Once an agreement is signed, Village residents will automatically be enrolled in the program and receive a 10% savings on their National Grid electrical supply charges. Customers will receive a single monthly bill from National Grid showing all their ordinary delivery and supply charges along with the solar credits that will reduce their bill. National Grid will continue to supply all maintenance and service to residents in the Village of Lima.
Residents will have the right to opt out of the program at its inception or at any time in the future. The Village of Lima will be holding public information meetings about this innovative program on Thursday, September 24th at 7pm and Tuesday, October 20th at 7pm. The location for these two sessions is the Lima Ambulance Base, 7024 W. Main Street in Lima.
