West Bloomfield Historical Society opens its 2024 season with a public program on “Old News” presented by town native Bill Davis. The free and accessible event takes place on Tuesday, April 16, 7 pm, at the Society, 8966 Rt. 5 & 20 in West Bloomfield. The building will be open at 6:30 for visitors who wish to browse the latest exhibits. Davis describes this sampling of old news articles from West Bloomfield’s historical past as “interesting, enlightening, and even shocking.” The wide range of stories includes everything from church news to major fires to scandals. Researching old newspaper pieces about West and East Bloomfield began as a retirement project for Davis. His collection of West Bloomfield items now totals 1,000, the oldest being a classified ad from 1815. Find more information at wbhsny.org.
