The twelfth month is finally upon us and with that territory, countless festive gatherings and events. If you’re looking for merriment this month, here are some options guaranteed to delight and hopefully create some memorable holiday moments picture perfect for your social media pleasure. As always be sure to call ahead to make sure events are still organized as publicized. Season’s Greetings!

December 5th – Who doesn’t love that dopey, loyal snowman, Olaf? Such a scene stealer in Frozen. Head on over to the Avon Free Library tonight at 6:00 PM to catch a showing of his star vehicle, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.

December 6th – Today marks the fourth day of Hanukkah. Anyone interested in celebrating this wintertime “festival of lights” as it is known can join in a giant Menorah lighting tonight (and every night of Hanukkah, through December 10th) at Temple Beth El (Winton Road) at 6:30 PM; snacks will be served.

December 7th – Over the past five years, the Genesee Brew House Keg Tree has slowly grown in size. This year’s tree is 27 feet tall and comprised of 520 empty half-barrel kegs with more than 20,000 shimmering lights. Last year’s tree was 2 feet and 90 kegs shorter. The tree will be unveiled tonight at 7:00 PM at the downtown brew house location. Also enjoy a special beer release, two Genesee Beer trucks and food trucks.

December 8th – Take in the holiday classic (via color VistaVision) White Christmas, at the fabulous Dryden Theatre located inside the George Eastman Museum. The showtime is 7:30 PM.

December 9th – Looking for something to do with the kids? Get tickets for the Holley Trolley Train Ride at the New York Museum of Transportation in Rush. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand with cookies and hot cocoa. The rides require ticketing and will run from 11 AM to 4 PM. Also today, a quiet time to meet Santa at Marketplace Mall. Come this morning from 8-10 AM to enjoy “Santa Cares,” a program for individuals who require additional assistance or a quiet environment.

December 10th – Tree in need of some new ornaments? Today the Avon Free Library is having an ornament-making event for kids ages 4 and up. The event will take place at 2:00 PM; please register at the library’s web site.

December 11th – Nothing much happening today so here is a public service reminder to move the elf. Or text your spouse to do it.

December 12th – Don’t miss your last chance to wonder at the annual “Sweet Creations” Gingerbread Display & Silent Auction at the George Eastman Museum. Come gaze at the dozens of cleverly designed and incredibly edible gingerbread houses and other festive items. The silent auction wraps up tonight so get your bids in after you nearly drool over all of the deliciously detailed creations.
