Auditions for LIBERTY: THE MONUMENTAL NEW MUSICAL will be held July 18 and 19 from 7:00- 8:30 p.m. at The Livingston County Museum, 30 Center Street in Geneseo.
This family-friendly historically based musical drama, produced by the Livingston County Historical Society (LCHS), casts 11 characters and a small ensemble performing at The Geneseo Riviera Theater on October 19-22, 2017.
Characters include: Frederic Auguste Bartholdi: French accent, sculptor; Liberty: his daughter; EMMA Lazarus: poet ; Giovanni Ferro: street urchin and immigrant, Italian accent, about 10; Olga Moscowitz: Russian immigrant, Russian-Yiddish accent, a pushcart peddler; Francis A. Walker: Director of the Census Bureau & Commissioner for Indian Affairs; Regina Schuyler: society widow; Samuel Ferguson: African American stonemason; Patrick Mckay: Irish immigrant, construction foreman; James Goodleaf: Mohawk Native American, ironworker, late teens-early 20’s; Joseph Pulitzer: newspaper mogul and immigrant, Hungarian accent; Ensemble: Contemporary Immigrants and Tourists, Ship Official, Ship Captain, Immigration Officials, Immigrants, Citizens, etc.
The role of Emma Lazarus has been cast with Finger Lakes Opera actress, Betsy Kimball of Mt. Morris. Liberty will be played by Katharina Nieves of Geneseo and an understudy will be cast for the role of Liberty.
Russ Walley will provide musical accompaniment for the production.
