Area families are invited to celebrate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States by taking part in a patriotic scavenger hunt at libraries throughout Livingston County this spring.

The Ska-Hase-Ga-O Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has partnered with libraries across Livingston County to offer a fun and educational activity designed especially for young visitors. The program encourages children and teens to explore their library while learning about the American Revolution.

The scavenger hunt includes activities for a wide range of ages. Younger children will read a short story about children of the American Revolution and then search the library for hidden patriotic symbols. Pre-teens and teens will take on a more advanced challenge by locating books related to Revolutionary War history and recording the title and author.

Participants may enter their name in a prize drawing, with each library awarding its own set of prizes. Participating libraries will also offer themed coloring pages and activity sheets for visitors.

The scavenger hunt will run throughout March and April. Families are encouraged to visit their local library for specific activity schedules and to join in learning about the people, symbols, and stories that shaped America’s founding.

Participating libraries include Avon, Caledonia, Dansville, Geneseo, Lima, Livonia, Mount Morris, and Nunda.

This program is part of local community efforts to mark America250 by engaging younger generations in learning about the nation’s history in meaningful and interactive ways.
