As part of its summer reading program, the Mendon Library organized a day for children to visit a number of participating local agencies for Truck Day. On Thursday morning, June 26, Mendon children and their families had a fun morning exploring local garages/facilities with a chance to climb aboard, get photos, create some art, and even read a story or two. Art supplies were available at each locale so children could draw pictures of their favorite vehicles and share the memories of the day with their families.
At the Honeoye Falls Department of Public Works, children had opportunities to explore Department of Public Works Vehicles. At the Honeoye Falls Fire Department, children were able to climb aboard the trucks, talk to a firefighter, and make a fire truck craft. At the Honeoye Falls-Mendon Volunteer Ambulance, the children got to explore the ambulance vehicles and talk to emergency medical crew members about all the equipment available to treat patients. At the Library, children could climb aboard an HF-L School Bus and even practice safe crossings. It was a fun morning of actually being able to climb aboard trucks that children see in the community every day and learn from the men and women who make these trucks work.
