October 15-21, 2023 marked “National Friends of the Libraries Week.” The Mendon Public Library joined with libraries and communities across the country in recognizing the good work of this important volunteer group. The Mendon Public Library is a better place thanks to the support of the Friends of the Mendon Public Library (FMPL).

The Friends accomplish all this by conducting a variety of fundraisers, including their Annual Appeal, Library Bag Sales, Bunny Raffle, Spring Flower Sale, Historic Brick Sale, In-Library Used Book Sale, online donations, and ROC the Day participation. In 2023, the FMPL helped to support our programs for all ages and allowed us to purchase several new toys for the Children’s Area.

The FMPL is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing our library. Friends’ meetings typically occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (not summer months) and are open to everyone. The next Friends meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. New members are always welcome to join.

Current Friends officers are: Nancy Holtby, President; Linda Goodrum, Vice President; Theresa Oderman, Secretary and Membership Director; and Charlene Fisk, Treasurer.

Contact information for the Friends is by email at: Friends.Mendon.Library@gmail.com.
