Don’t Confuse Grades with Accomplishments*

The professor, after looking over the students grades, determined the student ranked right on the cusp of a higher grade. “I can give you either an ‘A’ or a ‘B,’ which would you prefer?” he asked the student. The student quickly responded, “A ‘B’ is perfectly fine.” On the walk home, my roommate, who was in the room with me (he earned an unqualified ‘A’), told me, “You know, he’d have given you an ‘A’ if you told him to.” “Yeah, I know,” was my only response… until this week’s Carosa Commentary: “Don’t Confuse Grades with Accomplishments.”
