Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford, NY, has announced its transition from seasonal operations to year-round offerings, beginning 2024 with doors open 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays in January and February. Expanding beyond the previous May through October schedule, the living history museum invites visitors to embrace the winter season by trekking the nature trails on snowshoes, exploring a handful of open buildings in the 19th-century Historic Village, warming up beside a fire in the Meeting Center Lounge, shopping the Flint Hill Store, and more – all for a discounted seasonal rate. With the expansion of daily visitation throughout the year, plus a full lineup of special events and historical happenings throughout 2024, there’s something for everyone at GCV&M – in every season.

Winter Weekends at Genesee Country Village & Museum

Celebrate the season at Genesee Country Village & Museum by renting snowshoes (free!) to trek 5+ miles of nature trails, bring cross-country skis for explorations in the Historic Village, or load up the sleds for sledding on the Great Meadow. In addition to outdoor activities, the Museum will also have a handful of favorite buildings open and staffed in the Historic Village (the Livingston-Backus House, Altay General Store, Foster-Tufts House, and MacKay House), where costumed historical educators will be showcasing trades, cooking 19th-century foods over open hearths, tending for heirloom farm animals, and more. The Nature Center will offer daily guided programming with Naturalists (trail walks, winter tree ID, animal track ID, and Maple Sugaring 101), and guests can warm up in the Meeting Center Lounge beside the fire with a bite to eat or a historical craft beverage.
