One of the greatest challenges is to argue on behalf of a cause you do not believe in. Such is the everyday life of the defense attorney. Yet the task itself holds an intellectual attraction. This week we defend the indefensible, and ask the reader to wonder whether the mantra “who are we to judge” holds a universal value or whether it is merely a superficial saying we place on a bumper sticker to make us look cool.
