As American Legion members, one of their responsibilities is to look out for each other and their fellow veterans. As a way to reach out to members and veterans, a resolution was instituted saying Legion members should conduct “Buddy Checks” on fellow Legion members and veterans in the community.

Honeoye Falls Post #664 has been doing this throughout this pandemic. These are examples of the two most recent instances.

The Legion members constructed a ramp for a fellow veteran to make it easier to enter and leave his home for his wife. One of the members, Dennis Roy, supervised the construction and it was accomplished in one day. Thanks to Dennis and volunteers, the member and his wife had easier access to their home at no cost to them.

The second instance accomplished for a fellow veteran concerned yard neglect and leaf roundup. A group of Post #664 members met at the home and piled all the yard leaves for the veteran. One of the members even cleaned off the gutters of debris. It was a great turnout and the job went quickly.

Legion members here at Post #664 are always ready, willing and able to help out their local veteran community during this pandemic. If you know of any veteran who might be in need, please contact the Commander, Wayne Menz at 585-503-4614.
