HYZON Motors Inc. will open a major Hydrogen Fuel Cell Commercial Vehicle integration facility in the old General Motors fuel cell plant in Honeoye Falls, Honeoye Falls Village Mayor Rick Milne announced last week.
The facility will house the HYZON Headquarters and Global Engineering Centre and will manufacture specially designed HYZON commercial vehicle fuel cell systems.
HYZON Co-Founder and CTO Gary Robb began his career with GM at the former fuel cell plant. George Gu is the CEO. The company will move into Building 10 on Carriage Street. According to Milne, the company expects to have 10 people there by the end of the year, getting things set up, and between 50-60 people working there within the next couple of years. The company is leasing the space from Han-Tech.
HYZON Motors will make fuel cell trucks (heavy duty and medium duty) and buses (both city and coach). According to its website, the company currently equips vehicles with fuel cell modules up to 150kW and its heavy vehicles will offer a groundbreaking 500hp (370kW) fuel cell.
