Fire Prevention Week was October 6-12 and the students at Lima Primary got some first-hand information and education from the first responders from Lima on October 9.
Kindergarten and first-grade students were visited by members from the Lima Volunteer Fire Department. The firefighters brought one of the department’s trucks and showed them the different types of items stored on the truck. One of the firefighters also donned the firefighting gear: the turnout coat, the helmet and the oxygen tank and mask. The students learned some fire prevention tips and fire safety tips such as having an escape plan in case of fire.
