Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports that the Sheriff’s Marine Patrol is investigating a hit and run boating incident on Conesus Lake, but that the parties to the incident are now known.

On July 29th, 2017 at about 4:20 P.M., Marine Patrol Deputies were called to the area of Mark’s Leisure Time Marine for the report of a boat that had struck another and then left the area. The Sheriff’s Marine Patrol responded and began investigating the incident. Additional patrols responded to the New York State boat launch to try and locate the suspect boat. A thorough search of the area yielded negative contact with the suspect boat.

The Marine Patrol is continuing to investigate what exactly caused the one boat to collide with the other. Preliminary investigation found that both boats were rental boats. The docked and unoccupied boat that was hit is owned by Mark’s Leisure Time marina. The other boat, occupied by a man and two women, was also a private rental boat owned by two local gentlemen.
If anyone has any more information on the incident, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 243-7100 and ask for the Marine Patrol.
