On Tuesday, March 8, 2017, around the time school let out, it was hard to find a spot in the Mendon Public Library’s parking lot. Inside the library, Manor School’s Girl Scout Troop, 18 girl scouts strong, set up a “Story Time Station” by the fireplace and a “Monster Bookmark Craft Area” in the reading room. Additionally, a Library Scavenger Hunt worksheet had junior library sleuths moving throughout the entire library in search of the eleven items listed. The students that participated, more than 60 kids in all, went home with a new book and a fun memories of an afternoon well spent with some remarkable young community members.

Troop Leader, Sueann Wells stated, “The girls were excited to work with the kids who came in for the event.  They loved reading stories with the little ones and helping them make the book-eating monsters.  Those in charge of the scavenger hunt were also very excited to help direct the hunters.  And, of course, we were very excited to have collected dozens of books to give away at that event, and then give to the library’s upcoming book sale.”

The scouting event was organized to help the young ladies obtain their service badge. The Mendon Public Library was honored to host this outstanding event and thanks our scouts for their fine example.
