What does it take to stand guard over one of America’s most sacred sites? Union Star Lodge No. 320 F.&A.M., 3 North Main Street, Honeoye Falls, will give the public a rare opportunity to find out during a special open program on Monday, November 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m., featuring local veteran and Past Master Richard Kahl.
The program will take place in the Lodge Room on the third floor, offering visitors the uncommon chance to see the inside of a Masonic Lodge. Kahl, a former Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, will speak for about 30 minutes about the rigorous selection process required to earn that duty and what the experience of serving there meant to him. An informal question-and-answer period will follow.
The evening is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. No previous knowledge of Freemasonry is necessary. Curiosity—and an appreciation for those who have served—is enough. With Veterans Day just two days later, the program offers a timely chance to hear a local veteran’s firsthand story of honor and duty.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., attention turns to Monday Night Football with a Buffalo Bills Watch Party as the Bills take on the Minnesota Vikings. The watch party will be held on the second floor in the Lodge’s game room, with free pizza, wings, and pop served in the dining room. Bring the whole family. Go Bills!
The November 9 event is hosted by Union Star Lodge No. 320 in Honeoye Falls. Those interested in attending or learning more can visit the lodge’s website at UnionStarMasons.com.
