Memorial Day will be celebrated on Monday, May 25 and many towns in the area will be holding parades. Here is the parade schedule for those towns we were able to obtain information for.
North Bloomfield Parade: Marchers will assemble at Ontario and Quaker Meeting House Road at 8:15 a.m. with the parade startng at 8:30 a.m. and march to the North Bloomfield Cemetery where the Honor Roll will be read.
Mendon Parade: Mendon’s parade will begin at the Westminster Hall and Chapel on Route 251 in the hamlet at 9:30 a.m. (assembly at 9:15 a.m.).and prcoess to Mendon Cemetery where a short service will be held and the Star Spangled Banner will be played by the HF-L Middle School band.
Honeoye Falls Parade: The parade will start at 11:30 a.m. with formation at HF-L High School (assembly at 11:15 a.m.). Prior to this a short service will be held at the St. Paul of the Cross Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. which will include the reading of the Honor Roll. The parade will start at East and Church Streets and march to the Honeoye Falls Cemetery. There will be a short service and the HF-L High School Band will play the Star Spangled Banner.
Lima Memorial Day Parade: The parade in Lima will begin at 9:30 a.m. sharp with parade lineup at Lima Primary School on College Street. The parade will proceed to the Lima Town Hall where wreaths will be placed and a Memorial Service held in front of the town hall following the parade. All veterans are invited to march with the Lima American Legion Post #282 or Lima VFW Post #26.
Pittsford Memorial Day Parade: The parade will start at 10 a.m. from Sutherland High School, and march to Pittsford Cemetery for a rememberance ceremony. The ceremony will feature music by the Pittsford Fire Department Band. Three wreaths honoring 1) Pittsford’s war casualties and MIAs, 2) Veterans who were members of the Pittsford Fire Department and 3) all veterans will be placed. A reception afterward will be held at Pittsford’s Rayson-Miller American Legion Post #899 headquarters, 21 North Main Street (lower level of the Village Hall).
Rush Memorial Day Ceremony: A ceremony honoring veterans will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush at Noon. The names of those who served in the American Revolution who are buried in Rush cemeteries will be read.
Scottsville Memorial Day Parade: Scottsville’s Memorial Day parade, organized by Smith-Warren American Legion Post #367, steps off at 9 a.m. from TJ Conner Elementary School on Beckwith Avenue. The route proceeds down Rochester Street to Main Street to the Smith-Warren American Legion Post #367. There will be a ceremony there following the parade.
Ionia: Marchers meet at 8:15 a.m. at Ferguson’s Garage and parade begins at 8:30 a.m. Service at Millers Corners Cemetery.
West Bloomfield: Brief ceremony at Rural Cemetery (Routes 5&20) at 9:15 a.m. Parade begins at 9:30 a.m., ending at Pioneer Cemetery on County Road 37.
