On August 27, the Cruise Night at Mendon Commons had a giant turn out as organizers counted 56 cars on sight with some others across the street. While the parking lot was not to capacity, the event lined both sides with classic and custom cars!
Poor weather the week before made organizers reschedule the cruise night and they were hopeful the cars would come for the final cruise night of the season. And boy did they ever!
With participation of most of the businesses and some other sponsors as well, organizers had several people’s choice awards in three categories.
Old School.
New School
Best Truck
There was also an award for the oldest car at the show.
Pizza D’s, Pittsford Mendon Wine & Spirits, Co Co’s Closet, North Glow Photography and the Ice S’coop all contributed to the prizes with some sizable cash prizes for the winners put up by Pizza D’s. In addition, the Little Speed Shop & John Hastings LLC added to the awards as well. North Glow Photography took a number of photos as well as featured photos of the winners!
All in all the event had perfect weather, a super selection of mostly local cars and a tremendous amount of interaction with the car owners, spectators and customers who were milling about the complex.
Events like this put Mendon Commons on the map and in the minds of many. Organizers hope to continue to hold events at Mendon Commons to bring more people and a better awareness of who businesses are in the complex and what they have to offer.
