On Sunday, May 21, the Seventh District Sons of the American Legion Detachment of New York will hold a Flag Education and Retirement Ceremony at 12 noon at the Francis M. Dalton American Legion Post #282, 2475 State Route 65 in West Bloomfield.
This year’s program will feature active participation from the Boy Scouts, The Seventh District American Legion Junior Auxiliary and a wide array of magnificent Color Guards. The Flag Retirement Ceremony will be performed by the Officers of the Seventh District Sons of the American Legion with a fitting 21 gun salute and “Taps”. This is truly one of the finest Flag Retirement Ceremonies you will see. You are welcome to bring any unserviceable flags you may have to be properly retired.
The Sons of the American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within the American Legion. THE S.A.L. is made up of male descendants whose parents or grandparents served in the United States Military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion. Together, members of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion make up what is known as The American Legion Family.
