Lima Mayor John Skiptunas is proud to announce that the Village of Lima has earned the top award of $70,000 from the Clean Energy Community (CEC) program sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The Village of Lima and the City of Canandaigua are the only municipalities in the Finger Lake Region to reach the prestigious 5,000 point level in the leadership round of the CEC program. In addition to the current $70,000 award, the Village of Lima previously earned $42,000 from NYSERDA for a total of $112,000.
Lima reached the 5,000 point level by implementing a total of seven high impact clean energy actions. 2,000 points were earned by the implementation of the Village’s Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program which allows Village of Lima residents to purchase electricity generated from 100% NYS renewable sources and to participate in a community solar program that provides up to a 10% saving on their monthly National Grid electric bills.

Other notable CEC achievements by Lima included construction of a 350 kW-AC solar array, replacement of all street lights with LED luminaires, installation of an electric vehicle charging station, and adoption of the NY-Stretch energy code. To learn more about the Village of Lima’s clean energy achievements please email Deputy Mayor John Wadach at jwadach@VillageOfLima.us .
