Greater Western New York— July 7, 2023 — Chris Carosa, publisher of the Mendon-Honeoye Falls-Lima Sentinel, has announced that his paper will host the first ever in-person Greater Western New York Town Hall meeting on Saturday, July 15th beginning at 11:00 AM at the Lima, NY Town Hall, 7329 East Main Street, Lima, NY 14485.
“This represents a wonderful opportunity to bring a bit of Albany to the Greater Western New York Region,” says Carosa.
The event is free and open to all residents of the Greater Western New York Region. Like previous Greater Western New York Town Hall Meetings, it will feature three 30-minute segments: Keynotes, a Q&A, and an open forum.
This will include a morning session beginning at 11:00 AM and an afternoon session beginning at 1:30 PM after a “working” lunch.
This is the ninth in a series of public Greater Western New York events. More than three hundred people have signed up in advance to attend these events over the past two years. Those interested can sign up by going to https://greaterwesternnewyork.org/ to register.
Scheduled to present the morning keynote is Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes, who represents the 133rd district of the New York State Assembly. Assemblyman David DiPietro, who represents the 147th New York State Assembly District, is scheduled to keynote the afternoon session. After each keynote, attendees will be invited to ask follow-up questions. This Q&A portion will last 30 minutes. After this middle session, attendees will be asked to break into smaller groups to come up with their own recommendations before presenting those recommendations to the entire group. The public will then vote on those recommendations.
The Greater Western New York Town Hall Meeting is not a debate, but a workshop that allows voters to discuss and decide what direction they’d like to see New York State take.
Nearly a dozen members of the Western New York District of the New York Press Association are co-sponsoring this third in a series of virtual meetings, including the Mendon-Honeoye Falls-Lima Sentinel, the Akron Bugle, the Alfred Sun, The Batavian, Neighbor-to-Neighbor newspapers (including the Arcade Herald, the East Aurora Advertiser, the Springville Journal, Warsaw’s Country Courier, and the Franklinville Mercury-Gazette), and the SMG-Batavia’s western New York papers (The Daily News and the Livingston County News) and Niagara Frontier Publications (Island Dispatch, Niagara County Tribune Sentinel).
To participate in the event, go to GreaterWesternNewYork.org to register. The event is free and open to all residents of the Greater Western New York Region.
