Ryan Casler, a member of the Boy Scout Troop 215, has earned the honor of Eagle Scout, the highest rank that the Boy Scouts offers. Only 3 to 4 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor.

Ryan was found worthy of the rank of Eagle Scout by an Eagle Scout Board of Review on December 22, 2020. Ryan planned, fundraised, and supervised the construction of a concrete firepit at the Mendon Church for his Eagle Service Project during the summer of 2020.

On September 21, 2020, Ryan presented the completed firepit to the Mendon Church at a Troop 215 Court of Honor. Ryan addressed the gathering and offered thanks to Gordon Benoit and James Shoots of the Mendon Church for their guidance. Ryan also thanked the Scouts and families of Troop 215 for their help and mentioned that he couldn’t have done it without them. Ryan also thanked the Victor Home Depot for their donation of 30 bags of concrete.

Ryan said this firepit enhances the outdoor space at the Mendon Church which benefits our community that finds itself in a middle of pandemic.

On May 3, 2021, Ryan was presented with his rank of Eagle Scout at the Mendon Church. Ryan presented Gordon Benoit with the Eagle Scout mentor pin for his help.

Ryan is a 16-year-old sophomore at Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District. He is the son of Thomas and Renee Casler of the Town of Mendon. Since the age of six, Ryan has been a member of Scouting.

Ryan is the first Eagle Scout from Troop 215. Troop 215 was founded in 2018 and currently has 29 Scouts registered in the Unit. Troop 215 Charter Organization is the Mendon Church and the Troop is a member of Seneca Waterways Council.
