Connors sisters were part of All-State Choir At NYSMMA All State Festival Last Weekend

Seventeen students from Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School and High School were selected for Area All-State Band and Chorus last month, participating in concerts that involved students from across the area.

HF-L students chosen for the Junior High Area All-State, which was November 7 and 8, were Carlyn Bartell (tuba), Owen Darcy (trombone), James Francis (trumpet) and Heather Parham (clarinet) in the band and Fiona Gelb (Mixed Chorus) and Millie Gabrielsen (Treble Choir) on the vocal side. Junior High Area All-State was for students in grades 7-9.

Students participating in the Senior High Area All-State Band and Chorus, which was held November 21 and 22, were Ryleigh Abell (Wind Ensemble), Kellen Adams (Wind Ensemble), Raegan Banker (Chorus), Wilson Bond (Wind Ensemble), Claire Connors (Chorus and Wind Ensemble), Maeve Connors (Chorus and Wind Ensemble), Peterah Deisenroth (Chorus), Andy Fosler (Chorus), Ollie Koelsch (Wind Ensemble), Sarah McLaughlin (Wind Ensemble and Concert Band) and Ava Youngblut (Chorus).The Senior High Area All-State involved students in grades 10-12.

In addition, Claire Connors and Maeve Connors were both in the Mixed Choir as Rochester hosted the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) last week (December 4-7) for the Annual All State Festival and Winter Conference where more than 800 student musicians from schools across New York performed in one of eight ensembles at the 89th Annual Conference. The ensembles were Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Mixed Chorus, Treble Choir, Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra, Instrumental Jazz and Vocal Jazz. The performances by the students were at Eastman Theatre. Music educators also could attend several professional development programs and seminars during the conference. NYSSMA is the largest state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education.
