Area fire departments will be holding open houses as part of the RecruitNY campaign that hopes to see more community residents join their volunteer fire departments. The campaign, spearheaded by The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York, will take place at area fire departments April 23 and 24.
Local departments who we have confirmed are participating are Honeoye Falls, Lima, Mendon, Mumford, Rush and West Bloomfield.
Honeoye Falls will hold an open house at its 7 Monroe Street fire hall on April 23 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be tours, equipment demos, information about the department, refreshments and handouts for children.
Lima Fire Department will hold an open house at its 7386 East Main Street hall on April 23 and 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The open house will include descriptions of positions available; and there is a position for anyone and everyone.
Mendon Fire Department will hold an open house at its fire station, 101 Mendon-Ionia Road April 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The open house will include a tour and demonstrations.
Mumford Fire Department will hold an open house at its station, 1013 Main Street in Mumford, on April 23 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be a meet-and-
greet and tours.
Rush Fire Department will hold its open house on April 24 from 1-4 p.m. at its station, 1971 Rush-Mendon Road. There will be an equipment display, refreshments and a video.
West Bloomfield will hold an open house at its station, 2538 County Road 37, on April 23 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and on April 24 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
