On Saturday night, October 15th, the Mendon Public Library celebrated the successful completion of The Heart of Our Town Capital Campaign” at the Avon Century Barn. The Skycoasters provided terrific entertainment and library patrons and supporters enjoyed a wonderful evening with good friends, delicious food, and beautiful surroundings.
Led by Meg Segrue, the Friends of the Mendon Public Library hosted the event which attracted over 120 community members. In a magical setting, the Howlett families’ amazing Avon Century Barn, partygoers caught up with friends, danced the night away, and enjoyed terrific treats.
The celebration was emceed by Virginia Butler, D&C Digital New Digital Studio Director.
Heart of Our Town Capital Campaign Chair, Ron Knight, thanked all in the community who gave so generously to make our new library a reality. “We achieved what we did thanks to an effort that I’d characterize as more of “five-yards and a cloud of dust” rather than any “Hail Mary” pass,” Ron said. “Our community supported us, our Capital Campaign Committee worked diligently, and the library staff came through to make sure our community has more than just a new building, but, a stronger community.
At the event, Ron Knight and Deric West of the Heart of Our Town Capital Campaign presented a check for $458,000 to the Town of Mendon Supervisor, John Moffitt, and Town of Mendon Trustees Cynthia Carroll and John Hagreen (photo above).
