Women from St. Paul of the Cross, St. Rose and St. Agnes churches hold just some of the bags destined for Bethany House or Angels of Mercy. Photo by Brian Bedell

Each February St Paul of the Cross, St Rose and St Agnes churches collect personal hygiene items which they assemble into individual beautifully decorated bags. In March the bags are delivered to organizations that serve women in the community.

This year they were taken to Bethany House, a Catholic Worker House since 1977 and Angels of Mercy in the city. Both places provide a myriad of services for women not just in March, the Month in which we celebrate women, but every month of the year.

The bags are very appreciated by the recipients.

Said one of the clients, “It’s just so nice to have something like that of your own.”

This is the 18th year that church members have provided these bags, doing so even during the Covid lock down. Special thanks to Marion and Brian Bedell for making the deliveries.
