We all know in our gut that we live in scarry times. What with global warming, invasive species, and the new rules of baseball! But fear not, your Honeoye Falls Community Concert Band will take all that and more to new frightful albeit enjoyable levels with a free band concert on Saturday, October 28, the night of the full Hunter’s Moon, at the HFL District Auditorium at the Middle (Earth) School.

Yes, the band will meet you at Middle Earth to hear Gandolf – The Wizard by Johan de Meij from The Lord of the Rings. But then, the Dark Wizard from the Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will disabuse you of any Gandolf wisdom. Maybe Hedwig will protect you. If you fear empty spaces, relax, Horror Vacui (literally, fear of the empty) fills the auditorium with demons, vampires, ghosts, zombies, and assorted monsters. On the other hand, if the horrors of the natural world are your thing, “Tooth and Claw” from King Kong awaits. Beyond the natural world, the band will play Stephen Bulla’s arrangement of John William’s music in The Star Wars Saga, with a romantic interlude featuring Han Solo and Princess Leia. There’s nothing funny, however, about “The Divine Comedy” which will transport you, temporarily, to Purgatorio, another delightful musical experience by Robert W. Smith.

Good luck trying to recognize your favorite band member in costume. The concert and the fun begin at 7:00 PM.
