The February 2, 2017 meeting of the Honeoye Falls / Mendon Historical Society will feature David R. Coon.  David will present a program entitled “The Lehigh Valley Rochester Branch”

The program will discuss the Rochester Branch of the Lehigh Valley Railroad from Rochester Junction north into Rochester where it terminated at the Lehigh Valley Station on Court Street, now home of the Dinosaur BBQ restaurant.  The Rochester Branch follows the route obtained by the Rochester & Honeoye Valley Railroad (R & H.V. RR).  The Lehigh Valley, seeking access to Rochester, purchased the R & H.V. and renamed it their Rochester Branch.  The route south from Rochester Junction became their Hemlock Branch.    .

David Coon is a Model Rail Roader and rail fan from 1960 forward.  He is a member of the National Model Railroad Association, Treasurer of the local division, and Past President of the Rochester Model Railroad Club.  He is President of the Staub & Coon Insurance Agency, and a member of the Chili Fire Department where he is a member of their Board of Directors.  He is also a Past President of the Monroe County Chief’s Association..

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd at the Mendon Community Center, 167 North Main Street, Honeoye Falls.  This facility is handicapped accessible.  The meeting is open to the public.  For information call 624-5655.
