Several members of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Boys Varsity Basketball team, the HF-L Girls Varsity Swim team and the HF-L Boys Varsity Swim team took the plunge, the Polar Plunge that is, on February 12th at Ontario Beach Park in Rochester
The Rochester Polar Plunge supports programs and services of Special Olympics New York. Special Olympics New York provides year round training and competition to nearly 65,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across over 18 Olympic style sports. The Greater Rochester area supports nearly 3,000 athletes and hosts over 30 local Special Olympics competitions annually.
Members of the teams taking the plunge were: Tyler Bushnell, Jack Eastman, Will Gaylord, Matt Haas and David O’Connell (boys basketball); Charlie Pluta, Jim Chaffer, Gleb Morshuk, Kyle McDougall, Corey Wirth (boys swimming), Abigail Baum, Emily Baum, Lizzy Baxter, Emma Cuffney, Katie Greer, Jenna Inglese, Aurore Lambert,
Anna Lazarus-Hall, Julia Lewis, Cora Tuttobene, Hannah Zornow (girls swim team) and coaches Ari Freedman-Weiss (boys and girls swim coach), Jim Arrigenna (boys varsity basketball assistant coach and Unified Basketball coach), Kristen Butka (Girls JV lacrosse coach) and Cory Quinter (football assistant coach). In addition, several students attended the Polar Plunge to cheer on their fellow students. They were Matt Cardon, Dan Hayes, Owen VanNewkirk, Tyler Selke, James Segar (boys basketball) and Troy Baker, Nate Grey, Jackson Kammermeier and Shane Lalonde (swimming).
