The weather was glorious for this year’s Teddy Bear Picnic at Lima Primary School on June 10.
The Teddy Bear Picnic is an annual event held in conjunction with the school’s Flag Day festivities. This year, the school held its Flag Day ceremonies before the picnic. Then, the kindergarten and first-grade students and their parents or grandparents and the staff members spread blankets outside between the school and the playground. The children bring their favorite stuffed animal to join them at the picnic, which features traditional picnic fare like hot dogs, baked beans, salads and watermelon.
While teddy bears of every size and color were easily the most numerous stuffed animal noticed at the picnic, there were also stuffed dogs, cats, lions, bees, tigers and even birds spotted this year. After they ate, many children elected to play on the playground or venture over to the school’s Outdoor Classroom.
