Despite icy roads, nearly ninety people attended the third Annual Union Star Gala last Saturday Night, March 29. This marks the third straight year with rising attendance. Leaving barely enough room for a dance floor, the record-breaking crowd filled much of the spacious third floor of the Union Star Lodge’s Temple building, located at 3 North Main Street in Honeoye Falls.

“We had an amazing turnout for this year’s gala,” says Rich Kahl, master of Union Star Lodge. “Not only did we set a new record for attendance, but, thanks to our gracious sponsors and charitable guests, we also raised the most ever. Credit goes to all the brothers for helping put the event together, but especially to our organizers Jacob Anderson and Mark Spezzano.”

The Masonic Lodge’s event grossed more than $6,000 in cash and in-kind donations. This year’s event featured short keynote speeches from Luann Van Peursem and Michael Shields of the Mendon Equicenter, as well as James MacDuff, Deputy Grand Master of the Monroe District Masons. Proceeds from the event will go to the Veterans programs at the Mendon Equicenter and the Veterans food cupboard.
