Do you live alone? Do you find it challenging? Lonely? Or empty?
Gwenn Voelckers, of Mendon, is offering a new one-day “Live Alone and Thrive” empowerment workshop for divorced and widowed women from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5.
The workshop will be held at House Content Bed & Breakfast in Mendon. Participants will discover how to think differently about living alone, overcome loneliness, reconnect with their true self, and socialize in a couples’ world.
The workshop fee of $165 includes interactive discussions led by Voelckers, empowerment exercises, and plenty of trusted advice and resources. Breakfast refreshments with assorted pastries and a delicious healthy lunch are included.
Divorced years ago, Voelckers has coped successfully with the challenges and opportunities that confront women who live alone, often not by their own choosing, for the first time in their lives. In 2005, she introduced her first Living Alone workshop following a solo trip to Paris, where she had just celebrated turning 50.
“You have lots of time to think when you travel alone,” said Voelckers. “In Paris, I thought about my struggles after my divorce and returned home determined to help other women pick up the pieces and put their lives back together after a divorce or the loss of a spouse.”
Voelckers has been leading the workshops for over a decade now and just this year published her first book titled, “Alone and Content: Inspiring, empowering essays to help divorced and widowed women feel whole and complete on their own.” Not a licensed professional, Voelckers’ expertise is born out of real-life experience. She openly shares her story and strategies so that others might embrace their independence and move forward with confidence and a renewed love for life.
Pre-registration is required. For more information, visit www.aloneandcontent.com or contact Voelckers at (585) 624-7887 or e-mail gvoelckers@rochester.rr.com.
