The Honeoye Falls-Lima High School was placed in lockdown for under 15 minutes last Thursday, June 1 after school had let out for the day, according to a notice placed on the district’s website last week.
A person walking on the campus spotted a suspicious item on the front lawn in the afternoon. Lockdown procedures were followed and police were called. A student identified himself as the owner of the object. Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies made sure there was no threat and the lockdown was lifted in under 15 minutes.
District officials stated they wanted to make sure to communicate with parents about safety issues as they arise and that is why they posted the notice on the website. As the incident occurred after school, some students were confused on what they should do and high school administration will remind students of what to do and not do during a lockdown.
