Designer and Artist, Evan Bobrow, recently installed Moonrise Shelter in the Children’s Area of the Mendon Public Library. The piece is inspired by children’s forts and the Nomadic Furniture project of the 1970s. The fort is intended as a space to read and relax, especially for kids.

Evan first showed Moonrise Shelter in February 2020 at Oben Space.  The structure is 4’x4’x4’, has a matching carpet, and has a small bookshelf and table inside.

The Friends of the Mendon Public Library are supporting a program inspired by the shelter for kids 8-12 years old. On October 7, 10 am – 12 noon, ten kids can sign up to come learn how to build a fort!  Evan  will walk the kids through how to imagine then build their dream fort.  Students will learn about imaginative world building and intuitive drawing.  Evan will have handouts to share.  Drawing and building will all be part of the presentation.  This presentation will be limited to ten students.  Sign up today at mendonlibrary.org or call 624-6067.
