The Bloomfield Rotary Club is producing an unique holiday experience, bringing the beloved classic, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE to two local venues. New York City professional actors, Justin Randolph and Sabina Petra will reprise their roles as George Bailey and Mary Hatch Bailey, respectfully, with the other roles being portrayed by members of the locally popular Monsignor Schnacky Community Players of Mendon. There will also be holiday music incorporated into the performances.

Mr. Randolph’s recent NYC credits include: EDWARD II (Edward II), COMPANY (Bobby), and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (Oberon).  Regional credits include: INTO THE WOODS (The Wolf & Cinderella’s Prince), Disney’s BEAUTY & THE BEAST (The Beast), SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE (Louis & Billy), and BITTER SWEET (Hugh & Tranisch).

Ms. Petra’s recent roles include: National Tour of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Mrs. Potts), and PMT’s production of INTO THE WOODS (The Witch). She recently finished a run in FOREST BOY at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, where she won an Individual Performance Award.

The play is an adaptation by New York City Director, Gregory Cicchino, who grew up in Bloomfield, graduating from Allendale Columbia and Syracuse University. Greg is also a co-owner and founder of New York City’s “The Chain Theatre”. This show has played in New York, but this is the very first regional show.

The play is done in the style of a radio show being broadcast live, as was the popular form of entertainment in the 1930’s and 40’s. The show is complete with an on stage “Foley Artist” who was that era’s “sound effects computer”.
Interestingly, December of this year marks the seventieth anniversary of the release of the film version, which starred Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore.

Proceeds from the two performances will benefit the many and varied charities supported by the Bloomfield Rotary Club.
The first performance will be on Friday night, December 9th beginning at 7:00 PM at the Monsignor Schnacky Community Center at St. Catherine’s Church, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road in Mendon. The second will be Saturday December 10, also at 7:00 PM, at the Bloomfield High School Performing Arts Center, 11 Oakmount Ave. in Bloomfield. Minimum donation for either performance is $15.00. Tickets are available online at SaintCathOnline.com.
